Use it exactly as you would a full Shakti Mat — bare skin works best, deep breaths carry you through the first minutes of discomfort, and 20 minutes is all you need. Lay it on a hotel bed or a sun lounger for a familiar feel, or on a harder surface to raise the intensity. Once unrolled, tuck the pouch into itself to reveal the Shakti logo and form a pocket you can stuff a shirt into as a makeshift pillow or headrest. When you finish, roll it from the bottom with the spikes facing inward and fasten the elastic loops.

To-Go Mats ship in Level 2 intensity. To ease it off, lay it on a softer surface or wear a thin top. To turn it up, use a harder surface or place it directly against bare skin.

Almost any surface works. A hotel bed or a padded lounger gets you closest to the feel of your full mat at home. A harder surface — bare floor, firm ground, or carpet — sharpens the sensation. Outdoors, grass and sand both do the job. Keep in mind that the firmer the surface, the more intense the experience, so adjust if you are still building your practice.

The To-Go Mat is compact enough for your carry-on, but it works best at your destination rather than in the air. For in-flight relief, roll it up and tuck it behind your lower back as improvised lumbar support — it will not be your finest session, but it takes the edge off a long-haul flight.
